If you haven’t heard of Si*Sé yet, now’s a pretty good time to familiarize yourself with the Manhattan-based electro-pop outfit. Now eleven years removed from their discovery by David Byrne, the band continues to make haunting, eclectic, dub-tinged trip-hop, or, as it was just dubbed here at chez KP, “music for pornos”—but in the best way possible. Si*Sé’s latest effort, the EP GOLD blends disco, Motown, R&B, and even classic rock into an infinitely listenable, ethereal five songs that, yes, you could easily get it on to. Si*Sé’s music is a little funky and a lot sexy (especially when vocalist Carol C switches into Spanish)—which is incidentally how we regard our readers.
And hey, good news if you’re one of our funky, sexy readers within easy driving distance of Philadelphia: KeyPulp has a pair of tickets to Si*Sé’s show tomorrow night (Friday, April 29) at Philadelphia’s World Cafe Live, and we’re passing the love on to one of you. All you have to do to enter is tweet this post before 5 p.m. EDT today (and tag @KeyPulp so we can see it), and we’ll choose a winner at random from amongst the tweeters.
Not in Philly? Take heart! Si*Sé also has gigs coming up in New York City (May 14), San Diego (June 8), and Los Angeles (June 9). We may not have free tickets to those shows, but we still think they just may be worth attending, anyway.
