Philly Beer Week 2011 LogoPhilly Beer Week is the largest beer festival of its kind in the country, spanning the entire city. For the beer lover it’s like Chanukah, Christmas, and Festivus all rolled into one—10 days of pure beer drinking bliss, with food, and more events than one human without a TARDIS could possibly attend. Trying to figure out which of the hundreds of events you can make can be challenging. Thankfully, there is an app for that (available for both iPhone and Android devices). While you wait for that to install, here are some events that you’ll definitely want to check out.

Opening Tap
Start off Philly Beer Week’s in style at the opening festival. Mayor Nutter, Ben Franklin, and Joe Sixpack will be in attendance for the ceremonial tapping of the first keg. Witness the spectacle that is the arrival of the Hammer of Glory and sample beers from regional breweries. Tickets will not be sold at the door and must be purchased in advance.
