At 2:00 p.m. EDT / 11:00 a.m. PDT today, a social media experiment by Intel and Toshiba launched. The website—which will, over the next few days, host several episodes of a short film called “Inside” starring Emmy Rossum as Christina—has already gone down several times, proving one thing for certain: the online community is ready to get away from Monday in droves. Visitors to the site may participate in uncovering the details of Christina’s kidnapping, while she uses fleeting access to the Internet to post to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Information will unfold in real time, and to keep up, it’s pretty clear that you’ll have to dedicate some time and attention not just to Christina’s posts, but to the replies of other netizens (some real, some not) following Christina’s plight.

There’s some serious Hollywood power behind this project (DJ Caruso directs), not to mention what’s likely a substantial budget. But this glorified laptop commercial (because let’s face it, that’s really what this is), and the time required to keep up with it, still doesn’t have me sold. What about you, readers? Will you be following along with Christina’s plight?
